Suspects Accused of Running Hotel Review Job Scam Targeting Europe and Other Regions

Chinese nationals and 105 Nigerians in connection with a widespread internet fraud operation. The arrests occurred in a commercial apartment located in the Gudu area of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Thursday, January 9. This move is part of the EFCC’s continued crackdown on cybercrime and other forms of corruption.

EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Mr. Dele Oyewale, shared in an official statement that the group, comprising 67 men and 38 women, was involved in a deceptive hotel review job scam targeting unsuspecting victims, including hotels, across Europe and other regions. These fraudsters allegedly lured victims with fake job opportunities offering compensation for reviewing hotels, but instead exploited them financially.

According to ThisDay, Mr. Oyewale highlighted the EFCC’s commitment to eradicating internet fraud and cybercrime, encouraging citizens to join the fight against such illegal activities. Investigations into the case are ongoing, and the suspects are expected to face charges once the investigation is completed.
